On my way back to Logan airport on Sunday, getting on the T at Aquarium, using the machines without a problem:

T official: (noticing my luggage) How come you don't need any help and everyone else does?
Me: I'm from here.
T official: (smiles at me like, okay, we're on the same team, then.)

Apparently, I'm still local enough for the locals. And then I went back to the airport to fly home. To DC.

This is somewhat related. Whenever I fly into Orlando and get on the little shuttle tram thing that takes you from the gates to baggage claim, the announcer voice says, "Welcome to Orlando, Florida. Whether you are returning home, here on business, or visiting our world-class attractions, we hope you have a pleasant stay." And I always think, none of these things. I am doing none of these things. Unless my friends from college are "world-class attractions." And I think, what a weird limbo to be in, to find myself in the place I lived for five years but still not be returning home....
